Porthgwarra Sea-watch

A great morning Sea Watching this morning. I managed only 1 lifer (Great Skua) and failed to get onto a Great and a Balearic Shearwater, shame but there's always next time (Although it would have been nice to have had Common scoter, BT Diver, Sooty Shearwater etc.)
Thanks to Steve and Sam for letting me borrow your scopes.
Picture thanks to Simon Taylor...
Now off to save up for Steve's Leica Scope....

Cornwall Birding Pelagic

A few images from the Cornwall Birding Pelagic off St.Ives Today. The light wasn't great at the start but pushing the ISO up to 1600 I managed to get some ok shots of Gannet, Fulmar, Storm Petrel and the target species Wilson's Storm Petrel. A great morning's birding and 2 lifer's ( Wilson's Storm and Storm Petrel). It's a great way to see most typical sea birds and a lot easier that the conventional method of sea watching). A huge thank you to Paul Freestone for organizing an amazing birding trip. For anyone who is interested in any of the other Pelagic's planned see Cornwall Birding Website for more info on trips.

Gannets and Fulmars were the most numerous birds but 30 Storm Petrels were spotted overall from the trip.

1 of 2 Wilson's Storm petrel spotted on the trip. The one in the photograph was our first at about 7:55 am 7 miles NNW of St.Ives.

Im going to try to get back to posting a few times a week soon, when I get more pics. Thanks to all of you that have stuck with my blog during my lack of updates.
Thanks Everyone and welcome to the new followers!!!
